In this new set of paintings I am exploring the ideas of horizon and threshold in pictorial space using elements of abstraction and expressive fluidity. Using the landscape format offers opportunity to visually question what is light, dark, solid, open, and how they can mirror or invert…this is a new direction in how I am approaching the investigation of energetic movement especially how to convey the quality of stillness and solidity, as well as the more dynamic movements of elemental forces of Nature, both near and far. There is a sense of quiet playfulness in these paintings suggesting relief in these new horizons.
